Happy Birthday!

Our focus these days has been getting our summer birthday cards done!  Our "Ça, c'est ma journée" project that we started earlier this month has been on hold until this important work is done!  Here are a few samples:

Our birthday cards have four components:

  • We wish our friend "Happy Birthday".
  • We make a sentence describing him/her using the proper forms of two adjectives.
  • We make a sentence describing a "virtual gift" that we are giving him/her, and we draw a picture of the gift.
  • We write a closing, "From your friend, ..."
Each student receives an envelope full of these hand-made birthday cards from each member of the class. They are greatly appreciated by the recipients!

The last week of school is sure to be a busy and exciting one!

Joyeuse Fête des Pères!

All classes worked hard at preparing an adapted acrostic poem to honour all fathers this week for Father's Day. May God bless all of our dads in a special way! The finished product was presented as a scroll:

We will continue with our "Ça, c'est ma journée" work.   We didn't quite get it finished this past week!

Guess???

Our Grade 3/4 students have been putting sentences which describe their daily activities into a graphic organizer. What could the shape of the graphic organizer be?  You'll see more next week when their work is posted on our French bulletin board!  Here is a sampling of the work in progress:

In all classes this week we will also be busy preparing something for Father's Day!  We will be reviewing all "Questions of the Week" until the end of the school year, which will be upon us before we know it!

Fondue and a Paper Quilt

The Grade 7 and 8 students enjoyed a chocolate fondue this past Friday at noon hour French club.  We dipped strawberries, oranges, Rice Krispie Squares, marshmallows, graham wafers, pretzels and even chips in the chocolate fondue, which was a new flavour experience for some of us!

The Grade 3/4 students' work, mentioned last week, was compiled into a paper quilt and displayed on our French bulletin board:

As you know, our "Question of the Week" has evolved lately into a "Request of the Week".  This conversation-starter for Grades 3/4 and 4/5  will be "Parle-moi de tes amis."  For Grades 5/6 and 7/8, we will be working with "Parle-moi de vous".

Have a lovely week!  À bientôt,

Mme Christensen
