Hockey, hé?

We have started a sports unit in our 4/5 and 5/6 classes and we will be focusing on hockey to begin with.  We have also been practicing our numbers as part of review. Our discussions about the salaries of Jets hockey players have had us practicing some very large numbers!

This week we quizzed ourselves on our knowledge of players' numbers and guessed their salaries.  The answers were found on this table from Wikipedia; please click and scroll down to find the chart here:

We also practiced our numbers to 100,000 while singing along to this catchy tune:

In our Grade 7/8 class, we have been practicing our use of the passé composé.  On Friday we watched a very adorable episode of Simon's Cat.  Afterward, we discussed what happened in the episode using sentences in the past tense.  Here is the episode for you to enjoy!

Another group of our Grade 7/8 students enjoyed a lovely walk to Le Croissant on Friday:

A fleur de lis marks the occasion!

We drooled over the array of baked goods!  (These are only some of them!)

There are also other lovely French products for purchase.

We head back to school with all of our purchases!  It was so much fun.

À bientôt,

A Yummy French Friday

It's French Friday, which means that we have some opening exercises in the morning! Typically, O Canada is played in French on the school intercom system.  One student recites the Lord's Prayer in French and another is our weather announcer, en français, of course!

Perhaps a career in radio is launched!

Our Grade Seven students enjoyed a yummy trip to the bakery/boutique, Le Croissant, on 276 Tache Ave.! It was a wonderful time to interact in French with Mme Boulanger.

This week our 7/8 class will continue to practice the passé composé as we talk about our summer vacations.  The Grade 4/5 and 5/6 class will be beginning a unit on sports and pastimes.

Bonne fin de semaine!

Bienvenue!

Bienvenue! Welcome to our new students and welcome back, everyone! Our first three days back at school have been fantastique!

Making titlepages that describe ourselves have been a good way to review our adjectives. Here are a few samples:

What a good job finding words that have a "j" or "k" for this assigment!

In Grade 7/8, we have been sharing about our summer vacation, en français.  For the new Gr. 7 students, this has been an introduction to the use of the past tense. In Grade 4/5, we have already had a couple birthdays, so making birthday cards is already on our agenda. In Grade 5/6 we've enjoyed a playing "Simon dit" to help us get ready for our unit on sports, which we are looking forward to.

Bonne fin de semaine!  See you Monday!
