Our Festival du Voyageur adventure!

A huge thank you to all the parents and teachers who transported and chaperoned students at Festival du Voyageur this past Thursday afternoon. We had a great time at the kitchen party with Roger Dallaire, followed by a very yummy time at the Maple Sugar Shack!

On Friday, we participated in Voyageur dress-up day and enjoyed some time in the chapel singing Voyageur songs. Mr. B taught us rhythms for playing the spoons to some great fiddling tunes and taught us all how to jig! What a great time we had!

Bonne fin de semaine,

Bon festival!

Hé ho! Our field trip to Festival du Voyageur will be this week for Grades 3-8. We look forward to seeing our school's contribution to the 50th anniversary Festival Du Voyageur quilt which will be on display in the maple sugar shack. This lovely fabric was embroidered by one of our students who is in Grade Eight and we are looking forward to seeing it in the quilt.

In addition to our fieldtrip, we will have our school-wide Voyageur dress-up day this week. Do you remember how to dress up like a voyageur?

Here is a promotional video for Festival du Voyageur from last year. Thankfully this year, with our record February snowfall, we do not have to worry about insufficient snow for our sculptures!

I'm looking forward to next week with you! Bonne semaine et bon festival!

Hé Ho! Le Festival arrive!

This is a sure sign of the soon arrival of Festival du Voyageur! Here is the first snow sculpture that I noticed this year, not too far from our school, at the corner of St. Mary's Avenue and Marion Street:

Once again, students from Grades 3-8 will have the great privilege of attending the Festival du Voyageur school program! We will also enjoy dressing as voyageurs at school and sampling pea soup, bannock and maple syrup.

Students, please remember to bring in your field trip permission slips signed by your parents as soon as possible. We will be needing parent volunteers to help transport students for our Festival du Voyageur excursion, so your help, parents is so greatly appreciated!

Bonne semaine,
Mme Christensen
