Projects: Animals and our Canadian National Parks

These days as our thoughts turn towards summer, we look to our Canadian national parks for inspiration in French class.  Information about our national parks is available in both our official languages and we are using this website for project research in Grades 6, 7 and 8.

Grade Six students will be designing an outdoor adventure for a classmate in one of our national parks.  Grade Seven and Eight students will be designing an outdoor adventure company which runs activities in a national park of their choice.  We will be starting our projects this week.

I've been sharing some of photos from Riding Mountain National Park as well.

J'aime faire une randonnée en kayak!

J'adore regarder et admirer les fleurs sauvages.

Les bisons à Lac Audy sont incroyables.

Ahh! Regarde ce petit veau adorable! (Taken with a zoom lens from the safety of a vehicle, of course!)

Speaking of animals, the Grades 3, 4 and 5 students will be starting their projects on an animal of their choice this week.  Grade 3 students will use the verb "être" and "avoir"  to describe each animal in full sentences. Grade 4 students will add a sentence describing what their animal says and why they like the animal they have chosen.  Grade 5 students will build on this and use some verbs describing what their animal likes to eat and do.

Parents and students, please feel free to stop by the French room to view and borrow materials on loan to us from the Canadian Parents for French (CPF).  We have these materials until the beginning of June.

Have a lovely May long weekend! Bonne fin de semaine!

Mme Christensen
