Bonnes vacances! French day camp for ages 7-12!

Bonnes vacances! Yesterday was a flurry of activity with school parties, clean-up and fond farewells until September.

Summer is a good time to extend and enrich our learning in fun settings such as day camp. Once again, the Université de Saint Boniface is offering Tu parles, a day camp for ages 7-12.  Please check out this video:

It has been a great joy and privilege to teach your children this year. I wish all my students and their families a restful, safe and fun summer vacation!

Les jeux de juin: photos

There are some tremendous board games in the making in our Grade 3/4 class! All students are using material learned through the year in their games. We also learned extra vocabulary for game-related instructions such as: roll the die/advance or go back a space/lose a turn/start/finish, etc. The students had great enthusiasm in choosing specific themes for their games!

Bravo, Gr. 3/4 students! We will continue with this work this week.  Grade 5/6 students are preparing cards for those having birthdays through June and the summer months. Grade 7/8 students will do the same once they return from camp after Wednesday!

Bonne semaine!

Les aventures en plein air

Our Grade 7/8 students are putting their finishing touches on their outdoor adventure projects which are due on Monday. For this project, students have designed a summer outdoor adventure for a friend at a Canadian national park. Students include information regarding lodging, food, activities, a map as well as topographical features. Here's a sneak preview:

Our Grade 5/6 students will be away at camp next week, Monday to Friday. Upon their return, we will work on a Father's Day activity. Grade 3/4 are happily working on their board games! We hope to be nearly finished by the end of next week. What creativity they have and what interesting themes they have chosen for their French board games! I cannot wait to share pictures next week.

Bonne fin de semaine,
Mme Christensen

Les jeux de juin

Our sushi presentations for Grades 5 and 6 were finished last week. We learned a lot of vocabulary and structures related to food and as a bonus, we learned how to make and even enjoy sushi! Well done, everyone!

In our last presentation, two scrumptious shrimp and cucumber sushi rolls were prepared and devoured by the class!

This week, students Grades 5-8 will be evaluated for speaking for this term. Our Grade 7/8's will continue working as well on their outdoor adventure projects which demonstrate their writing abilities this term. Grades 3/4 will be starting a fun unit, Les Jeux de juin, (The June Games) which involves creating games that use vocabulary and structures learned in class this past year. It is a fun way to review all that we have learned.

Bonne semaine,
Mme Christensen
